Kairala Village - the Old Granary / in Pelkosenniemi

The handsome village of Kairala (formerly Kairavuopio) on the main road E5 is a valuable area of traditional landscapes. The village used to be the grain supply for Pelkosenniemi and agriculture still lives on in the village today. At the beginning of the twentieth century, even wheat was grown in the fields. The open fields of Kairala offer excellent possibilities for bird watching trips as well as fishing on the Kitinen River.
